- Passage planning and preparation for coastal passages
- Pilotage
- Passage making and ability as skipper
- Advanced boat handling
- Adverse weather conditions
- Emergency situations
Notes:
If you want your RYA Coastal Skipper qualification to be commercially endorsed by the MCA in Britain you must sit an exam following completion of your course. To do this you require the following elements: 800 miles logged within 10 years prior the examination, 30 days living on board, 2 days as skipper and 12 night hours
- An RYA Coastal skipper practical course completion certificate
- Restricted (VHF) Radio Operators certificate
- A recognized First Aid certificate
- A recognized sea survival certificate
- A successful medical and eye test
