RYA Coastal Skipper - Sailing

Level:	Advanced skippering of a sailing yacht

Where:	Auckland

Duration:	5 days

Pre-course experience:	800 miles logged withing 10 years prior to examination, 30 days living on board, 12 night hours, 2 days as skipper

Assumed knowledge:	An RYA Coastal skipper practical course completion certificate Restricted (VHF) Radio Operators certificate A recognized First Aid certificate A recognized sea survival certificate A successful medical and eye test

Ability after the course:	Can skipper a yacht on coastal passages by day and night

Course aims:	To improve your ability to manage the yacht and its crew To improve navigation and pilotage skills for coastal passages To cope wit more challenging situations and conditions

Passage planning and preparation for coastal passages
Pilotage
Passage making and ability as skipper
Advanced yacht handling under power
Advanced yacht handling under sail
Adverse weather conditions
Emergency situations
