Here at the South Pacific Sailing School we offer courses
for every level of ability on both sailing yachts and motor cruisers.
Whether you're just looking to learn the ropes for fun, would like
to be able to charter a vessel from us, looking to improve your
sea skills or your looking for a commercial qualification we can
help you achieve your goals.
Our aim is to make boating safer and more enjoyable by improving
your knowledge at sea. By teaching you a range of skills and techniques
to help with all aspects of cruising, you will be more confident
and relaxed.
New Zealand is highly regarded as a sailing nation, and the Hauraki
Gulf and Bay of Islands are widely acknowledged as some of the premier
cruising grounds in the world. Our bases, situated right in the
heart of both locations, are easy to find and have plenty of parking.
We pride ourselves on our fleet of yachts, all are custom built
for easy handling and meticulously maintained. This means you learn
on the latest designs in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Our courses are run under the Royal Yachting Association
(RYA) umbrella and are internationally recognized and accepted by
the vast majority of yacht charter companies worldwide. Our instructors
are fully RYA qualified and selected for their enthusiasm, expertise
and professional attitude. Cruising by sailing yacht or motor cruiser
is great fun and we are committed to making sure you have an excellent
time and are able to see why so many students recommend us to their
friends, families and colleagues.
We offer RYA Practical courses on both sailing yachts and motor
cruisers. On the sailing side we offer Start Yachting, Competent
Crew, Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper. Motor cruising courses are
Helmsman, Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper. If you are looking for
a commercial qualification, we also offer Certificates of Competence
for RYA/MCA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore.
To help you achieve your seatime requirements, gain confidence
and enhance your skills, we also offer Mile Catchers, passage sailing
from Auckland to the Bay of Islands and Auckland to Vava'u, just
ask our staff for more information about these deliveries.
